About TJX Europe
We’re passionate about conducting our business with the highest levels of integrity. Globally, we have an amazing history of giving back and it’s at the heart of how we do business. We have four commitments: to the communities where we live and work; to our current and future associates; to our vendors and business partners in our supply chain; and to the environment, which we have a responsibility to preserve and protect for future generations.
Supporting local communities – We aim to create a lasting positive impact in the communities in which we operate; helping vulnerable young people in our communities achieve their potential. Together, our team and customers have helped raise over £35 million since 2004. And we do it across Europe. We have national charity partnerships in the countries in which we operate including Cancer Research UK, Enable Ireland, CHILDREN in Germany and WIOSNA in Poland.
Trading responsibly – We know that shoppers want companies to have responsible business practices, so we set high standards for ourselves and those doing business with us. Our stores are filled with products from across the world and we source them responsibly through our Vendor Code of Conduct. We have a rigorous code of conduct and monitor compliance. We offer customers a choice of ethical merchandise. In addition we have developed a sustainable trade programme in the remote Rwenzori region of Uganda that helps disadvantaged communities increase their income through trade.
Reducing our impact on the environment – With a growing business and daily delivery to stores we have a responsibility to reduce our impact on the environment. We audit our environmental impact and improvements through the Carbon Trust and other third parties and have reduced our carbon footprint by 11% since 2012*. We have the biggest fleet of large electric trucks in Europe. Our efforts are recognised by the FTSE4 Good Index and Carbon Trust Standard.
Being an employer of choice – We’re an employer that values diversity and encourages its staff to be creative, get involved and think outside the box. We partner with The Prince’s Trust to give young people from vulnerable backgrounds the opportunity to learn about the world of work and give them the foundations to get a job. In 2015, over 150 associates gained a qualification and work experience through our Apprenticeships Programme. We are also very proud that TJX Europe was named the friendliest place to work in the UK by Glassdoor.com in 2015, and was voted the Top Graduate Employer in Retail by the JobCrowd in 2015.
