What is it like working for TJX Europe?
Every day I look forward to coming to work for such an amazing and dynamic company. Every day is different and varied, and that’s why I love it. There are so many people you get to meet along your journey, they are all so friendly, supportive and driven to motivate you in your career. The culture of the company is something that is so unique to TJX, and truly makes it an exciting place to work.
Tell me about your career progression/on-going development with TJX Europe.
As part of the apprenticeship programme, so far I have rotated through three different teams within transactional finance. I have learnt so many different many things, not only how to do my job in each of these areas but also so many skills that I can take away and use forever. Every time I move I feel I have been so well supported by different team members to succeed in each job role. We are really encouraged to attend workshops and drive our own development at TJX which makes me feel so empowered within my career and development.
How much responsibility are you given?
From the beginning of my journey at TJX I was always trusted to take on responsibility as and when I felt ready for it – this also encouraged me to actively seek to learn new things and take on additional responsibilities outside what was expected of me. The levels of responsibility I have makes me feel valued by the company every day and trusted in the work I do.
What is a typical working day like?
As I said previously, every day is different and varied. Of course there are typical daily tasks that need to be carried out at work but generally there are new things, different challenges and other types of work that come up on a daily basis that makes it fun and exciting to achieve results whilst learning new skills and developing my knowledge. My team and I also have daily stand-ups which allows us the opportunity to discuss what we did yesterday and problems we encountered; what we are focusing on doing today and anything else such as new ideas that need to be shared with the team. This ensures that every day we are all aware of what stages we are at with our own work and the chance to help each other if there is the need. A typical working day also means that I get to liaise with different teams within the business, such as payroll and expense payables – therefore every day I am building good working relationships with others that will naturally aid my journey with TJX in the future.
