What is it like working for TJX Europe?
It is a very diverse and international company which I very much enjoy. You get to work with lots of different people from various countries and across different areas of the business which provides you with a holistic business view. The atmosphere is really friendly and everyone is happy to lend a helping hand.
Tell me about your career progression/on-going development with TJX Europe.
I started my career with TJX Europe in our German office as an Allocation Analyst within our Homeware division. After 1.5 years I moved to the UK and worked as a Merchandiser for another 1.5 years. My whole journey was supported with training sessions ranging from developing technical abilities to workshops on leading a team. Now I have just changed jobs across functions and moved into Buying to join our German satellite Buying office.
How much responsibility are you given?
You are given responsibility from the start of your career and most importantly, your opinion counts. You will be the driver of your business and you get the opportunity to be entrepreneurial as well as creative.
What is a typical working day like?
Right now, I don’t have a typical working day as every day looks different and I sometimes don’t know what I will be doing the following week. I usually spend Monday in the office to analyse the business performance and catch up with my team. The rest of the week I am out in the market looking for new opportunities and exciting deals to bring to our customers. My job also includes regular visits to our stores and the high streets of Europe to look for new opportunities we could go after.
