What is it like working for TJX Europe?

In comparison to fellow students on internships at other retailers my work and opinion is always valued and respected – I have never been treated differently to the rest of the team. I have been given the opportunity to grow my role in reflection of my strengths and interests. TJX Europe is a company with a very open and friendly culture and I have witnessed this first hand across all levels within the company. No day is the same and I haven’t had to make one cup of tea!

Tell me about your career progression/on-going development with TJX Europe.

TJX Europe has invested in my development from day one, from ongoing training courses to learning through multiple job roles. TJX Europe has allowed me to grow as an individual, learn my strengths and given me the industry knowledge I need for furthering my career. I now know where I see my career progressing after university and the options available to me, and I couldn’t be more grateful to TJX Europe for this. Throughout my year at TJX Europe my progression and growth has never stopped, I’m always learning.

How much responsibility are you given?

With the development of my role and as the year has progressed, I’ve been given increasing responsibility. It’s now down to me to decide what trends are relevant and that buyers need to know about, and how best to document these trends and it’s the same with design. I love this way of working at TJX Europe because it really allows you to excel and get the most out of a project.

What is a typical working day like?

No day is ever the same within my role. Every day a new project is thrown my way. I love this fast paced way of working because it keeps the role exciting and me on my toes! One day I may be at a vendor visit with a buyer or at a trade show then the next I’ll be working on a trend report for the next big thing, or designing a knitwear range with a vendor. This role is diverse and forever changing, which is why it’s so fun and exciting. TJX Europe are open to change and I’m never bound to one particular way of working, they adapt to my strengths as an individual.
