What is it like working for TJX Europe?
I started working in store in 2009 and I’m still here so it’s fair to say I must like it here! One of the things I love most about the company is how lovely everybody I work with is. Everybody wants you to succeed and there is a real team feel about the business. You are encouraged to have fun as well as work and all of this makes a really fun, interesting and supportive place to work!
Tell me about your career progression/on-going development with TJX Europe.
I started working as a Store Associate in the Liverpool TK Maxx store for four years. I was then given the opportunity to work in Head Office as PR Assistant for a year during my placement year at university. Upon graduating I came back as Corporate Responsibility Coordinator and was then promoted into the role of Campaign Marketing Officer for Homesense 18 months later. During the years I’ve had the opportunity to attend a variety of courses to help me develop such as Speed Reading People and Presentation Skills as well as attending external conferences to develop my wider industry knowledge.
How much responsibility are you given?
In my role I have been given lots more responsibility than I had imagined! I have had great opportunities to lead on my own projects reporting into senior members of the business, forming strategies for our Marketing channels or leading on the launches of Pan-European CR Marketing and Merchandise campaigns. These opportunities have been challenging at times and have really pushed me, however it’s helped me learn a lot quicker and I know that I have always got the support of the great team around me!
What is a typical working day like?
I could begin my morning writing a campaign brief for a piece of tactical Marketing activity and then spend my afternoon in a forest on one of our brand campaign shoots – no two days are ever the same! There is so much opportunity within the department and the variety of what I do each day keeps the role really interesting. At the moment I am particularly enjoying working on our expansion plans, however I spend a lot my time working with a variety of departments across the business to look at events coming up in store. I then work closely with our Marketing team to lead the Marketing activity and ensure we are creating integrated campaigns that really connect with our customers.
